A DEATH LEADS TO A NEW LIFE
It was about this time, unfortunately the untimely death of Dori Seda happened. Donahue was dating her at the time of her death. He suggested I do a Women's issue, and have it dedicated to Dori. I was on it as fast as I could. We gathered a couple fine pieces of Dori's for the third issue. I enlisted a girlfriend, to approach and interview some women artists. The highlight of this issue was of course, Dori's work, and a brilliant cartoonist and friend, Krystine Kryttre, an extraordinary artist!, we we're also very lucky to get the great Georganne Dean, famous for her Oingo Boingo cover art. Little did I know at the time, that this was going to be the last issue of Kär-tön'. It's all in the learning boys and girls! I got smart! Why pay all the bills and do all the leg work, for Christ sake? Full circle was about to transpire. I called up the good folks at Rip Off Press, remember me and the broom? I talked with them for a short time, and had an agreement that they would publish for me. Not Kär-tön', but a whole new idea. At that time it wasn't out of the usual, to publish a square bound book with only reprints. I insisted that this book would be different. NO reprints! All original never before seen anthology! The first of it's kind, according to Don Donahue's great introduction he wrote for us!. I solicited the great help of Lloyd Dangle, we gathered over 30 artists, from never before published artists, like Julie Doucet, Richard Sala to legendary established artists like S. Clay Wilson, and Hunt Emerson. HECK! Comic art of the late 1980's was born! CONTINUED
